Hope Foundation Bethel International Church Ministries

Hope Foundation BICM's Mission

Our mission is to provide clean drinking water through the drilling of wells and water treatment in Kenya.

How You Can Help

We will drill wells and enhance access to clean water in Northern Kenya. Water scarcity has compromised education and sanitation, forcing girls to withdraw from school to support their families.

People are forced to walk over five hours to collect water. The little water they do collect is prioritized for drinking and cooking, leaving them with little for sanitation.

A $10 donation gives 1 child access to safe water.

Visit the Clean Water Project website for more details.

Note: To install on linux, open a terminal shell in the folder where
you downloaded the above file and enter:
chmod 775 <Filename-of-Downloaded-File> ./<Filename-of-Downloaded-File> For example: chmod 775 kjvpurebiblesearch-3.0.0-2.i486.run ./kjvpurebiblesearch-3.0.0-2.i486.run This will make the file executable and run it.  You can also do this graphically with your system's File Manager.  Just edit the properties of the file (usually by right-clicking and selecting "properties"), make it executable by you, and double-click it to run it.  Note that some Linux distributions may have an incorrect text file association with this file-type. If the graphical method doesn't work, please try the terminal method above.

** Due to recent changes in Linux regarding LSB, some users are experiencing
difficulties getting the LSB prerequisite installed. This is due to Debian dropping
support for LSB -- See DebianLSB and LSB - Debian Wiki. This applies to all DEB-based
Linux distributions, including Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Knoppix, Kali, etc.
It's possible that RPM-based distros, like RedHat, Fedora, CentOS, OpenSUSE, Mandrake, etc., may have similar issues, but that's not been confirmed. If you are using a RPM-based system and experience similar issues, you can try these steps, but switch the 'apt-get' command to your system's installer app name, like 'yum', and drop the 'alien' dependency, since it will already support RPM packages.
After working with several users to get their KJPBS installation working, I've come up with the following that works for most Debian-based Linux installations:
If the "sudo apt-get install lsb" fails on your system, try instead to install the two main LSB pieces needed with: "sudo apt-get install lsb-base lsb-release". And, you'll also need to make sure 'alien' is installed with: "sudo apt-get install alien". Alien is needed to convert and install RPM format packages used by LSB on DEB systems (like Debian, Ubuntu, etc.). Then, follow the instructions above to download and install KJPBS. After installation, if KJPBS runs and works, then all is well and you are done. However, it's been found that some systems fail to be able to launch KJPBS.
If it won't launch after installation, either from the applications menu or from the command-line with "/opt/kjvpurebiblesearch/KJVCanOpener/app/KingJamesPureBibleSearch", and this includes the "run" and "run-stealth" scripts from the portable zip files below, and you get a strange "File not found" error or "No such file or directory" error, then you may need to fix the system interpreter that launches KJPBS. The confusing part about the "File not found" or "No such file or directory" error from the operating system is that it doesn't tell you what file isn't found. On the surface, it seems that the file it can't find is the KJPBS executable itself, but that's not the case.
If you run the 'file' command on the KJPBS executable, with: "file /opt/kjvpurebiblesearch/KJVCanOpener/app/KingJamesPureBibleSearch" (or other path if you are using the portable zip version), it will let you see the interpreter it's searching for to launch KJPBS and will show something like:
KingJamesPureBibleSearch: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3, for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, BuildID[sha1]=24583c61449057c877b50c2b715998ddd0dc1cbf, not stripped
In this example, the file that usually isn't found is "/lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3". This is often due to incomplete system LSB packages that fail to create a symbolic link in the library folders for this interpreter. If you run "ls /lib64/", you should see an entry for the 'ld-linux-x86-64' library that's needed. On most systems, this is usually called "ld-linux-x86-64.so.2". You then need to use the 'ln' command to add a link for "/lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3" to point to that "ld-linux-x86-64.so.2" library. To do that, you need to run: "sudo ln -s /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3". Once you add the missing link to the interpreter, you should be able to launch and run KJPBS.
To summarize, the commands usually needed are: sudo apt-get install lsb-base lsb-release sudo apt-get install alien sudo ln -s /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 /lib64/ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3
Note that on a 32-bit system, these instructions are the same, except the link will usually be to the 32-bit folder and something like "/lib/ld-lsb.so.3" that needs to point to "/lib/ld-linux.so.2". This would use "sudo ln -s /lib/ld-lsb.so.3 /lib/ld-linux.so.2" for the last command.
Yes, this is a bit confusing, but it's a one-time step needed to setup KJPBS to run on your system. At some point in the future, I will have to find a different mechanism to replace LSB use in KJPBS on Linux.

To use the Portable Drive version, just extract the contents of the zip file to the desired location, such as a USB flash drive. And launch either the 'run' or 'run-stealth' script. The 'run-stealth' script passes the '-stealth' option to KJPBS which causes it to not write any settings to the system registry. See the users manual for more details.
